Accounting & Billing Specialist

Salary: $80,000 - $95,000 per year About the Company A growing professional services firm is seeking an Accounting & Billing Specialist to support leadership with day‑to‑day accounting operations and firm‑wide billing. Benefits Competitive compensation + performance bonus Summer hours and generous PTO 401(k) with company match Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage Flexible, team‑oriented culture with regular events Key Responsibilities Billing & Accounts Receivable Prepare, review, and finalize client invoices Track WIP, unbilled time, expenses, and retainers Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely billing Process adjustments, write‑ups/downs, and credits Monitor AR and follow up on outstanding balances Maintain billing records and support monthly billing cycles Accounting & Month‑End Support Assist with AP, AR, and daily accounting activities Prepare journal entries and help maintain the general ledger Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts Support month‑end and quarter‑end close (accruals, variance analysis) Assist with revenue recognition tied to billing activity Contribute to year‑end processes, audits, and ad‑hoc projects Qualifications 3–5+ years of accounting, billing, or AP/AR experience (professional services a plus) Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Exposure to WIP, retainers, utilization, and project‑based revenue models Experience with billing systems or expense tools Strong Excel skills (lookups, pivots, reconciliations) Detail‑oriented with strong organization and communication skills Ability to manage deadlines and handle confidential financial information Systems & Tools Time & billing / practice management systems (e.g., Office Tools, Canopy, CCH, Thomson Reuters) Accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online) Advanced Excel Sometimes Jobot is required to perform background checks with your authorization.
