Legal Assistant

Why this role

Support a multi-office law firm doing sophisticated real estate, estate planning, and litigation work - and get paid at the top of the Sarasota market for it. At BPE, legal assistants aren't interchangeable cogs. You'll work directly with attorneys on real matters, manage your own workflow, and have the autonomy to run things well without being micromanaged. We pay above market because we hire people who actually own their work.

What you'll do

Draft and format correspondence, pleadings, and legal documents. Manage attorney calendars, court deadlines, and scheduling across a busy practice. File documents electronically and maintain case files so nothing slips. Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and vendors. Assist with time entry, billing support, and expense tracking. Provide general administrative support to keep the practice running smoothly - and step up on ad hoc projects when they come across your desk.

What we're looking for

You bring 1+ year of legal or professional office experience and know your way around a busy desk. You're highly organized, detail-oriented, and communicate clearly - in writing, on the phone, and in person. You're proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Outlook especially) and pick up new software quickly. You know how to prioritize when three attorneys need three things at once.

Strongly preferred: experience with Clio or similar case management systems, familiarity with e-filing in Florida state or federal courts, and bilingual English/Spanish ability.
