Role: Controller (Temporary to Hire)

Pay Rate: $80/hr - $90/hr


Location: Manhattan, NY - *Midtown* - Hybrid - 3 days a week!


Position Overview

A prominent financial services firm in Midtown Manhattan is seeking an experienced, hands-on Controller for a temporary-to-hire opportunity. This role oversees day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance while maintaining strong internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes, ensuring compliance with US GAAP.
• Prepare and present accurate financial statements, management reports, and variance analyses.
• Oversee daily accounting functions, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and cash management.
• Coordinate external audit processes and prepare required tax schedule packages.
• Evaluate, refine, and enforce internal financial controls and risk management policies.
• Partner with executive leadership to support budgeting, forecasting, and ad-hoc financial analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
• 7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller capacity.
• Direct experience within the Financial Services industry required.
• Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and enterprise accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, or SAP).
• Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills.
