Junior COBOL Developer [Remote]

Role Overview

Apply your COBOL expertise to support legacy-system analysis and modernization while contributing real-world technical input that helps train next-generation AI systems. Prior AI experience is not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze, interpret, and document COBOL code used in legacy-system applications.
• Explain program logic, data flows, and integration points within COBOL environments.
• Provide detailed written and verbal responses to project-specific prompts and tasks.
• Contribute domain knowledge to the creation and refinement of AI training datasets.
• Review and clarify technical requirements and specifications to support accurate model understanding.
• Collaborate virtually with project managers and technical stakeholders to meet deliverables and milestones.
• Participate in feedback sessions that improve project outcomes and model performance.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in COBOL programming.
• Understanding of mainframe or midrange environments.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly in written and spoken English.
• Experience interpreting legacy-system documentation and business logic.
• Familiarity with COBOL data processing, batch operations, or transaction management.
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to code analysis and documentation.
• Interest or background in collaborative remote projects involving cross-functional teams.
• Curiosity about AI systems and willingness to work on innovative technology initiatives.

Work Terms

• Remote independent contractor engagement.

Compensation

• $90 to $120 per hour.
