Junior COBOL Developer for AI Training [Remote]

Role Overview
Analyze, interpret, and document COBOL code for legacy mainframe and midrange applications to support system maintenance and modernization. Your technical analysis and clear written and verbal explanations will be used to create and refine high-quality training inputs for next-generation AI systems. This is a remote contractor role focused on contributing domain expertise rather than prior AI experience.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze and document existing COBOL programs, including program logic, data flows, and integration points.
Provide high-quality, detailed written and verbal responses to project-specific prompts and tasks.
Identify and explain business logic and technical requirements present in legacy system code and documentation.
Contribute domain knowledge to the creation and refinement of AI training data sets.
Review and clarify technical specifications to ensure accurate model understanding and outputs.
Collaborate virtually with project managers and technical stakeholders to meet deliverables and milestones.
Participate in iterative feedback sessions to improve project outcomes and model performance.
Qualifications
Proficiency in COBOL programming.
Familiarity with mainframe or midrange environments.
Experience interpreting legacy system documentation and business logic.
Understanding of data processing concepts such as batch operations or transaction management in COBOL environments.
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly in written and verbal English.
Keen attention to detail and a methodical approach to code analysis and documentation.
Interest or experience working on collaborative, remote projects with cross functional teams.
Curiosity about AI systems and a willingness to contribute to innovative technology initiatives. No prior AI experience is required.
