Responsibilities The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) – Journey Traveler must be able to travel nationwide for 13‑week assignments. This position provides flexibility to travel the country and work in various settings. On assignment the SLP organizes and provides speech‑language services for the location to facilitate rehabilitation, directing patient participation in selected tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance. They also facilitate the learning of skills and functions essential for communication and swallowing to diminish or remediate disorders or deficits, and direct activities to promote and maintain health within the scope of practice and consistent with the Code of Ethics of the profession. Supervise CFY temporary licensees, students, and support personnel in accordance with state licensure requirements and professional standards. Ensure effective and efficient delivery of rehab services, adherence to the established plan of care, department and patient schedule, and timely documentation of services. Attend and contribute to patient care, staffing conferences, and other related meetings. Makes referrals to other disciplines and agencies to address comprehensive patient needs. Consult with rehabilitation team members to select appropriate therapeutic regimens. Adapt program and/or plan of care according to patient needs. Promote a safe environment and enforce the removal of fire and safety hazards. Order supplies and equipment as necessary. Maintain and report repairs of equipment. Prioritize Patient Service to ensure residents and families receive high‑quality care. Screen, examine, and evaluate patients including history, systems review, and application of appropriate tests; synthesize information, interpret findings, establish a diagnosis, identify impairments, determine predicted improvement, and design a plan of care. Develop appropriate treatment goals in collaboration with patient and caregivers; implement the treatment plan and complete all related documentation.
