Melanoma Medical Oncology Professor

I. Clinical Provide clinical expertise in patient care management and an appropriate teaching environment for fellows, residents, and students in the specialty of Melanoma Medical Oncology. Primarily serve as an attending physician in the outpatient clinical area as well as in the inpatient setting. Provide the capability of primary physician including patient history, physical examinations, and all aspects of primary patient care including cardiac resuscitation. Practice clinical medicine in an exemplary manner in standards set forth by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners and the American College of Physicians, balanced with other academic activities. Capable of providing complete and thorough history and physical patient examinations. Perform invasive procedures as dictated by the physician's subspecialty of Melanoma. II. Research Develop research programs of scholarly activities, including participation in recruitment of patients to clinical trials, serving as a principal investigator or co‑investigator in single‑institution or multi‑center clinical trials, and developing investigator‑initiated clinical trials. Identify grants and funding sources for research, submit grants and protocols in accordance with rules and deadlines, and develop budgets and analyses to complete grant and protocol application forms. III. Administrative and Service Participate in investigations and review of best‑practice initiatives and clinical and institutional effectiveness projects. Serve on institutional and hospital committees as requested by the Chair, reviewing all documents pertaining to committee functions. Represent the Department by participating or presenting at local, regional, state, and national meetings in the field of medical oncology. IV. Education/Teaching Provide a balanced and integrated educational program in cancer medicine for fellows, medical residents, and students rotating through the Melanoma services. Attend and participate in Division/Department teaching and continuing education conferences, requiring verbal interaction with colleagues and walking to meeting locations throughout the campus.
