Contract Accountant

Location: Boulder, CO — 100% Onsite Pay Rate: $33 hourly About the Role We're seeking a Senior Contract Accountant to take ownership of full-cycle accounting operations on an ongoing, indefinite basis. This role goes beyond day-to-day transactional work — it requires someone who can independently manage the close process, maintain the integrity of the general ledger, and serve as a key point of accountability for accurate, audit-ready financials. This is a great fit for an experienced accounting professional who is a self-starter, comfortable working with minimal oversight, and confident owning outcomes rather than just tasks. Key Responsibilities Own full-cycle accounting operations, including AP, AR, payroll, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance Lead and manage month-end and year-end close processes independently, ensuring financial statements are accurate, complete, and delivered on schedule Maintain and safeguard the integrity of the chart of accounts across all financial systems Prepare, review, and post journal entries, including accruals, reclasses, and complex adjustments Perform and review account reconciliations, proactively identifying and resolving discrepancies Prepare supplemental weekly, monthly, and annual financial reports for leadership Support audit readiness by maintaining organized documentation, schedules, and supporting analysis Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting controls and policies Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen accuracy and efficiency of accounting workflows Exercise a high level of discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive financial information Collaborate cross-functionally with operations and leadership to resolve accounting issues and support broader business needs Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required 5+ years of progressive, full-cycle accounting experience Demonstrated ability to independently manage close processes with minimal supervision Strong working knowledge of GAAP and internal controls Proficiency in Excel and modern accounting/ERP software (e.g., Sage Intacct, NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar) Excellent judgment, discretion, and comfort handling confidential financial data Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities with efficiency Self-starter mentality with an entrepreneurial, solutions-oriented work ethic CPA or CPA-track strongly preferred Logistics Schedule: Full-time, onsite — Boulder, CO Compensation: $33 per hour, depending on experience Key changes to reflect seniority: Raised experience requirement from 3+ to 5+ years and framed responsibilities around ownership and independence rather than execution Added supplemental reporting, audit support, and confidentiality/discretion language (echoing the seniority signals from the reference posting) without naming or describing the client Emphasized process improvement leadership and cross-functional collaboration as senior-level markers Strengthened CPA language from "a plus" to "strongly preferred" AimHire is an equal opportunity employer. #J-18808-Ljbffr AimHire
