Employee Relations Manager

Location: Hybrid in Long Beach, CA (Approximately 4 Days Onsite / 1 Day Remote) Schedule: Hybrid, based on business needs About the Opportunity Our client is seeking an experienced Employee Relations Manager to serve as a key strategic partner to leadership in a fast-paced, operational environment. This is a high-priority hire that will play a critical role in supporting a large workforce while driving employee relations initiatives, mitigating risk, and ensuring compliance with employment policies and labor relations practices. This position is ideal for an HR professional who thrives in complex employee relations environments, is comfortable navigating challenging workplace issues, and can balance employee advocacy with sound business judgment. Key Responsibilities Lead complex employee relations matters, including workplace investigations, corrective actions, performance management, and conflict resolution. Partner closely with operational leaders to provide practical guidance on employee issues, workplace concerns, and organizational risk. Conduct thorough investigations involving policy violations, employee complaints, retaliation concerns, and other sensitive matters. Support labor relations activities within unionized environments and collaborate with leadership on contract interpretation and workforce issues. Identify potential legal and compliance risks and develop proactive solutions that protect both employees and the organization. Advise leadership on employment practices, policy application, and workforce management strategies. Build trusted partnerships with frontline leaders and operational teams while maintaining credibility and confidentiality. Promote a positive workplace culture while balancing operational priorities and business objectives. Qualifications Required Extensive experience in Employee Relations within a large, operational workforce. Strong background conducting employee investigations and managing complex employee issues. Demonstrated experience with: Performance management Corrective action processes Employee conflict resolution Employment law compliance Labor relations Experience working in unionized environments. Strong understanding of workplace risk management, compliance, and legal exposure. Proven ability to influence leaders and handle difficult conversations with confidence and professionalism. Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
