We are currently seeking a purpose-driven candidate with an ownership mentality to fill an open position as a Director, Data Science (level I or II). This position will be located remotely.

Summary

The Director, Data Science is responsible for defining and executing enterprise-wide strategies that leverage advanced analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML) to drive business value. This position leads the development, deployment, and scaling of sophisticated ML models and data-driven solutions that enhance operations, product quality, and innovation. It partners closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to align data science initiatives with strategic objectives while strengthening data infrastructure, governance, and accessibility. Additionally, it ensures that data science practices meet the highest standards of security, compliance, and industry leadership while advancing the organization’s long-term AI/ML capabilities.

Responsibilities

Director I, Data Science

• Lead a team in the development and execution of complex, organization-wide data science strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Design and implement sophisticated machine learning algorithms and advanced statistical models to solve high-priority manufacturing, supply chain, and/or R&D challenges.
• Build, scale, and continuously enhance AI/ML capabilities across the organization, including model development, deployment, and lifecycle management.
• Collaborate with business leaders to define data science priorities and align analytics efforts with company strategy.
• Act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring solutions meet operational and strategic needs.
• Guide the development of new analytical tools, platforms, and frameworks to support scalable AI/ML adoption.
• Lead efforts to improve data infrastructure, accessibility, and data quality across enterprise systems.
• Ensure successful deployment, monitoring, and scaling of machine learning models.
• Develop and communicate data-driven recommendations to senior leadership.
• Mentor and coach data science teams, fostering both technical excellence and professional growth.
• Promote best practices in AI/ML, data engineering, and analytics across the organization.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and regulatory requirements.
• Foster innovation by evaluating and applying emerging AI/ML techniques relevant to the organization.
• Represent the company externally in industry forums, conferences, and collaborations.
• Publish and promote thought leadership on emerging data science and AI/ML trends.

Director II, Data Science

• Additional duties as Director II, Data Science:
  • Define and execute the strategic vision for enterprise data science and AI/ML initiatives, aligning with overall business goals.
  • Lead large, high-impact, cross-functional data science programs delivering advanced analytics solutions to critical business problems.
  • Drive the development and deployment of cutting-edge machine learning algorithms and predictive analytics strategies.
  • Build and institutionalize AI/ML as a core organizational capability, including governance, platforms, and operating models.
  • Directly influence corporate strategy by providing actionable, data-driven insights to executive leadership.
  • Act as a senior advisor to executives, offering expert consultation on AI/ML opportunities and risks.
  • Lead and grow high-performing data science teams, including mentoring senior leaders and developing future thought leaders.
  • Champion the adoption of best practices in machine learning, data governance, and analytics at enterprise scale.
  • Oversee the development of advanced training programs to elevate AI/ML literacy across the organization.
  • Drive integration of AI/ML into manufacturing processes, R&D, supply chain optimization, and/or customer solutions.
  • Foster innovation through research, partnerships, and exploration of emerging technologies (e.g., generative AI, digital twins, advanced process control).
  • Lead development of policies ensuring data integrity, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure scalable deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement of AI/ML systems across the enterprise.
  • Foster cross-functional alignment to ensure data science initiatives deliver both short-term impact and long-term value.

Education & Credentials

Director I, Data Science

• Bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, statistics, or related field and
• 10+ years of progressive experience, with 6+ years progressive leadership experience or
• An equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Master’s degree or doctorate is preferred.

Director II, Data Science

• Bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, statistics, or related field and
• 12+ years of progressive experience, with 8+ years progressive leadership experience or
• An equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Master’s degree or doctorate in related area is preferred.

Compensation

Base pay for this role is between $136,492 and $167,203 annually. Base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location.
