Job Description

Step into a vital role shaping the educational experience of students as a contract Special Education Teacher. This full-time opportunity consists of 35 hours each week during the academic year, supporting diverse learners at the elementary level. You’ll play an impactful role, providing specialized support and fostering an inclusive environment where every child can thrive.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Active Louisiana Educator Certificate required
  • Special Education teaching certificate preferred; Elementary 1-5 certification considered
  • Previous experience in special education or elementary settings highly desirable
  • Adaptable to various classroom environments and caseloads
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills
  • Passion for advocating for students’ individual learning needs
  • Commitment to fostering a positive, encouraging classroom atmosphere

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instructional support to students with varying needs in the elementary setting
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Collaborate closely with general education teachers, support staff, and families
  • Maintain accurate records of students’ progress and adapt strategies as needed
  • Promote inclusion and ensure adherence to state and federal guidelines
  • Participate in meetings, trainings, and professional development as needed
