Step into a meaningful role supporting students as a dedicated special education teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. This contract position offers the chance to make a daily impact, working full-time hours with a single, consistent caseload at the elementary level. The role is based onsite and involves serving a diverse group of learners in a supportive school community near Destrehan, LA.

Preferred candidates are experienced with any special education settings and can readily adapt to students’ individual needs. An active Louisiana Educator Certificate is required, and applicants holding a SPED Educator Certificate are especially encouraged to apply. However, those with an Elementary 1-5 Certificate will also be considered. This full-time position averages 35 hours per week.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid, active Louisiana Educator Certificate (SPED or Elementary 1-5)
  • Background in special education instruction
  • Comfortable with various special education settings and supports
  • Adaptable, compassionate, and committed to students’ success
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver differentiated instruction to students with diverse abilities and needs
  • Create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Work collaboratively with general education staff, related service providers, and families
  • Maintain accurate records and comply with state and federal regulations
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development
