Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) – Intermediate Medical Care / Thoracic Surgery – Wisconsin

Start Date: November 30, 2026

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Evening/Night shifts, 1900-0730, 8 or 12-hour shifts (4x12 schedule available). Every other weekend and some holidays required. Limited time-off availability during December 22 through January 5.

Highlights:

• Work in both IMC Acute Med/Progressive Care and IMC Thoracic Surgery units at a premier Magnet-designated teaching hospital
• Care for diverse patient populations including thoracic surgery patients (esophagectomies, lobectomies, lung volume reduction), cardiac surgery stepdown, and hospitalist patients
• 3:1 patient ratio across all shifts with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Epic charting system; Trauma Level II required, Trauma Level I preferred
• Opportunity to assist with procedures including chest tube insertion in on-unit procedure room
• Floating to other units as needed; 13-week assignment

Requirements:

• Active Wisconsin RN license or Compact RN license
• BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association only)
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in telemetry, oncology, cardiac, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown
• Ventilator and transplant experience required
• ICU or IMC and surgical post-op experience required
• Must successfully pass telemetry competency exam prior to start (strict passing criteria apply)
• Must reside 50 miles or more from the facility
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Proficiency in extensive clinical skills including cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, arterial line management, central line care, vasoactive drip titration, chest tubes, and wound care
