Robert Half is looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee core accounting operations for a manufacturing company in Milton, Wisconsin. This role will guide the monthly close process, produce reliable financial reporting, and provide meaningful analysis that supports business decisions. The position also partners with operational and executive leaders, strengthens compliance practices, and helps build an efficient, high-performing accounting function.

Responsibilities:

• Direct daily corporate accounting activities and lead a timely, well-organized month-end close process.

• Prepare and review monthly financial statements and management reports to ensure accuracy, consistency, and usefulness for leadership.

• Maintain the general ledger by overseeing journal entries, account reconciliations, and proper application of U.S. GAAP.

• Analyze financial results against budget and prior periods, identifying key variances and explaining business drivers.

• Support annual budgeting and periodic forecasting by delivering financial data, trend analysis, and planning insight.

• Oversee tax-related accounting activities and help ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal control standards.

• Coordinate audit preparation and respond to requests from external auditors to support efficient financial statement audits.

• Supervise and develop a small accounting team while promoting accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

• Work closely with plant controllers and company leadership to improve financial visibility, reporting quality, and decision-making.

• Participate in process enhancements and operational changes that affect accounting workflows, including system-related updates when needed.

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including prior responsibility for leading close activities and financial reporting.
• Demonstrated knowledge of general ledger management, account reconciliation, journal entry review, and financial statement preparation.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and experience supporting compliance, audit, and internal control requirements.
• Proven ability to interpret financial results, perform variance analysis, and communicate findings clearly to business leaders.
• Experience overseeing month-end close and producing accurate monthly financial statements in a deadline-driven environment.
• Prior leadership experience managing or mentoring accounting staff and driving a continuous improvement mindset.
• Proficiency in working cross-functionally with operational leaders, including plant or business unit finance partners.
