Membership Desk Representative

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Delivers excellent service to all members, guests, and program participants. Responds to member and guest needs, promotes memberships and programs, and maintains cleanliness and organization of the lobby area, and other areas as needed.

Essential functions include providing excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the Y and on the phone, contributing to member retention; conducting tours responsive to the needs of prospective members; selling memberships; building relationships with members; helping members connect with one another and the YMCA; handling and resolving membership concerns; applying all YMCA policies dealing with member services; and performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED, and First Aid. Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people, previous customer service, sales or related experience, and basic knowledge of computers are also required.

Work environment and physical demands include using a computer for extended periods of time, communicating using a computer and phone/smart device, sitting and reaching, moving around the work environment, lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds, close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust, and a usually moderate noise level.

YMCA safety requirements include completing and maintaining certification in CPR and First Aid, quickly identifying emergency situations and responding appropriately, reporting all safety incidents and hazards immediately and accurately, maintaining a safe, clean, and hazard-free environment, performing physical tasks related to safety, and following all YMCA safety protocols, OSHA standards, and state/local regulations as applicable.
