Assistant Controller

Essential Functions: Oversee accounting department and internal auditing Supervise, train and mentor accounting dept staff Serve as a liaison between advisors and the accounting team Oversee/handle accounts payable and receivable workflows Test and maintain internal financial controls Oversee team member benefits administration Oversee advisor commissions process Reconcile complex bank and general ledger accounts Assist with tax preparation and filings Assist with managing client/vendor relationships (office supplies, rent, copiers etc) Oversee/handle accounting for North Star related organizations (NS Tax, NSRG Ventures, Charitable Foundation) . Minimum requirements: Bachelor's degree in accounting. CPA preferred 3-5 years experience in accounting, financials, and financial services preferred Previous experience supervising accounting staff preferred Strong working experience using ERP accounting system (i.e. Great Plains, Business Central)-Solid experience using Quickbooks and other accounting software Strong curiosity and ability to identify and implement process improvements-Experience integrating AI into accounting functions is a plus Extremely high attention to detail and accuracy Maintain confidentiality of information Excellent customer service skills Ability to troubleshoot and research compensation/accounting issues Excellent Microsoft Excel skills and working with large data files ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Knowledge of insurance / financial services industry preferred Experience with payroll administration would be a plus Good organizational and demonstrated problem solving skills Good understanding of DOL compliance for W2 team members and 1099 Independent Contractor IRS guidelines #J-18808-Ljbffr nsrg
