Forest Ridge seeks a talented,passionateand engagingpart-timeUpper SchoolMandarinTeacher to teachtwo sections of Mandarin: Level 2/3 and Level 4in our mod schedule. The primary aim of the International Language Program is to present world languages as essential living tools for communication,giventhe global community in which we live. Employing proficiency-based methods, students develop the ability to use other languages in realistic situations while developing the skill areas of listening, speaking,readingand writing. The knowledge,insightand appreciation they gain for other cultures allows students to develop empathy by broadening their understanding of how others live,thinkand interact in ways different to their own. We are looking for an educator who is passionate about teaching adolescent girls, who works well both independently and with a team, and who employs a variety of teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of our students. In addition, we are looking for faculty who are excited by the opportunity to build an integrated curriculum, working alongside members of various departments to build lessons, units and courses of study that unite concepts, topics,themesand skills often taught isolated from one another. TEACHING AT FOREST RIDGE

Forest Ridgeoffers anintellectually invigorating,interconnectedandexperientialcurriculum. The entire Forest Ridge experience is designed tosupport the growth of girls, particularly in theacademic and leadership spaces more traditionally held by boys. The curriculum atForest Ridgehas been developed and updatedby the faculty who teach it. Forest Ridge teachers work collaboratively across disciplines and grade levelsto integrate learning experiences for students. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Thepart-timeUpperSchoolMandarinTeacher, reporting to the Director ofUpperSchool, will join a collaborative department of colleagues to build a creative,engagingand student-centered learning environment, employing best practices for educating students in an inclusive setting. Specific responsibilities for this position include: Teachtwosections ofUpperSchoolMandarin;teach x-bin Mandarin Conversation courses Providesupport for students outside of class time (answering homework questions, providing extra writing help, etc.) as needed; Actively collaborate with colleagues to designcurriculum,assessmentand instructional practices in alignment with best practicesto create innovative andequitablelearning experiences for all students; Attendcontentteam and faculty meetings as scheduled; Participate in the life of the school community by attending school assemblies, divisional gatherings, school events, etc.; Attend and respectfullyparticipatein communal prayer and other faith services.

QUALIFICATIONS

A successful candidate for this position will meet the following requirements and qualifications: Experience teachingUpperSchoolMandarincourses; A bachelor’s degree inMandarinor a related field;master’sdegree is preferred. A personal understanding of and commitment to theGoals and Criteriaof a Sacred Heart education; A commitment to working in a girl-centric environment, designed to support the development of competent,confidentand courageous women ready to lead in a multi-cultural world; Prior experience working with a diverse population of students and colleagues; A demonstrated commitment to culturally responsive pedagogy, including an understanding of themselves and the lenses they bring to interactions, as well as the differing perspectives of others; A commitment toteachingthe whole child; An ability to work and communicate well with faculty, staff,studentsand parents;
