Mission or Goal of Unit: The Division is dedicated to thepursuit of excellence in teaching, research, and clinical care inthe fields of Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunology. We do so byproviding superior, compassionate and innovative clinical care toour patients and to conduct and disseminate clinical, research andscholarship, with a focus on the care of patients and education offuture clinicians.

Chief Purpose of this Position

We are seeking aRheumatologist for a clinician faculty position within the Divisionof Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunology at Virginia CommonwealthUniversity.

Duties & Responsibilities

Teaching

• Provide teaching service to learners, including medicalstudents, interns and residents;
• Use contemporary adult learning methods to promoteevidence-based practice
• Demonstrate effective teaching skills and continually developas a teacher for learners at all levels
• Complete required evaluations of learners in a timely manner –including but not limited to written and verbal feedback
• Participate in other learning activities such as foundations ofclinical medicine, morning report, core conference, and otherformal educational programs for undergraduate and post-graduatelearners.

Clinical

Will provide exemplary care in the area of Rheumatology- in outpatient ambulatory clinics and on consult services.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated both scholarly and clinical abilities throughpatient care, teaching and clinical research
• Board certified in Rheumatology and in Internal Medicine
• Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment ofrespect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty,staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or acommitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
