Roles & Responsibilities
- Act as legal secretary for assigned attorneys
- Format, finalize, type, and file documents
- Prepare letters and legal documents from drafts
- File pleadings and motions with appropriate tribunals
- Serve or arrange service of legal documents; maintain attorney case files
- Prepare subpoenas and discovery requests
- Schedule hearings, trials, and depositions; arrange facilities as directed
- Retain and schedule court reporters and obtain transcripts
- Manage attorney calendars
- Handle general secretarial duties (phone calls, travel arrangements)
- Close case files and support office management as needed
Experience Required
- Paralegal/legal secretary experience – 3–5 years
- Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) – 3 years
- Preparing legal documents and subpoenas – 3 years
- Preparing discovery requests and scheduling hearings/trials/depositions – 3 years
- Formatting, finalizing, typing, and filing documents – 3 years
- Preparing letters and legal documents from drafts – 3 years
- Filing pleadings and motions with tribunals – 3 years
- Managing executive/attorney calendars – 2 years
- Managing travel arrangements – 1 year
Skills & Certifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of Florida court systems
- Legal document drafting and filing
- Court/tribunal filing procedures
- Calendar and scheduling management
- General secretarial and office support skills
Eligibilities & qualifications
- Ability to speak and understand English
- High school diploma required
- Associate\'s or Bachelor\'s degree preferred
- Experience working within the Florida Courts system – highly desired
- Experience working for a State of Florida Attorney – preferred
