This position is eligible to telework up to one (1) day a week, in accordance with the Statewide Telework Policy, and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. This is subject to change based on operational need and/or future return to office orders. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

Under the general direction of the Supervisor II, the Analyst II serves as a skilled personnel management expert in the areas of Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), California Family Rights Act (CFRA), Pregnancy Disability Leave (PDL), Catastrophic Leave (Cat Leave), and Medical Leaves of Absence (MLOA) (collectively referred to as protected leaves). The Protected Leave (PL) Analyst acts as liaison with all DGS offices and client agencies and provides guidance related to administering DGS' PL programs utilizing Departmental policies, procedures and applicable laws, rules, statutes and regulations.


This position is Limited Term (12 months); it may become permanent, be extended up to 24 months, or be cancelled at any time.

This position may be downgraded to Analyst I for recruitment purposes. If downgraded, duties will be adjusted accordingly.

This position may require travel.

This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code. The position is responsible for making or participating in the making of governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests. The appointee is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment and once per year.

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship by the start date of employment. The Department of General Services does not participate in E-Verify for employment authorization purposes.
