Safta’s Table, opening in early 2026, is a casual, all-day café located in Lakeview, New Orleans. Offering counter service, family-style meals to-go, and many of the comforting dishes guests have come to love from Safta and Saba, Safta’s Table is designed to feel like your grandmother’s kitchen: warm, familiar, and welcoming.
Celebrating approachable, soulful food and a relaxed experience, Safta’s Table will be a place where guests can stop in for a quick bite, pick up dinner to enjoy at home, or settle in for a casual meal with loved ones in a cozy, inviting space.Our Mission & Core Values:

Job Overview
The Cook at Safta’s Table is responsible for preparing dishes that reflect the comforting and soulful flavors of Safta and Saba in a relaxed, all-day café setting. This role plays a key part in daily prep, executing food to spec during service, and maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient station. The Cook works closely with the kitchen team to ensure consistency, quality, and smooth kitchen operations throughout the day.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and cook menu items according to standardized recipes and presentation guidelines
- Ensure food is fresh, properly stored, and handled according to food safety standards
- Maintain a clean and organized station at all times
- Assist in daily prep and mise en place for service
- Work collaboratively with fellow cooks and kitchen staff to maintain a positive and efficient work environment
- Follow all kitchen protocols and food handling procedures to maintain safety and sanitation
- Receive and store deliveries, ensuring proper stock rotation
- Communicate effectively with leadership about inventory needs, prep levels, and challenges
- Support the overall goals of the kitchen team by jumping in where needed
- Provide all other duties, as assigned
- 1+ year of experience in a professional kitchen preferred, but willing to train the right candidate
- Passion for food, hospitality, and continuous learning
- Basic understanding of culinary techniques, kitchen equipment, and safety standards
- Strong work ethic and ability to take direction
- Dependable, punctual, and a strong team player
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency
- Ability to maintain composure and positivity during high-volume service
