Engineering Manager - New Product Development - MEWP

The Client is seeking an experienced NPIP Engineering Manager – Access to lead the engineering function responsible for New Product Introduction Programs (NPIP) within the Access portfolio. This role will drive the successful delivery of next-generation Aerial Work Platforms (AWP) by leading design, validation, program execution, and cross-functional collaboration throughout all phases of the NPIP lifecycle. Working closely with international engineering, quality, and program leadership teams. In Q1 2027 , the role will relocate permanently to San Antonio, Texas , supporting the establishment and expansion of Access engineering operations in North America. A strong background in Aerial Work Platform (AWP) design is required. Key Responsibilities Lead NPIP engineering activities for the Access product line, ensuring successful execution across concept development, design, validation, and industrialization phases. Define engineering strategies, technical deliverables, and milestone requirements to support successful phase-gate progression. Ensure products achieve performance, safety, regulatory, cost, reliability, and manufacturability objectives. Cross-Functional Alignment Collaborate with engineering teams across the UK and India to maintain platform consistency, architecture alignment, and design integrity. Partner with Operations, Quality, Service, Supply Chain, and Program Management teams to ensure program readiness and successful launches. Work closely with Product Management to validate customer requirements, market needs, and competitive positioning. Technical Leadership Provide technical leadership across key AWP systems, including: Structural systems Electrical systems Controls and automation Safety systems Ensure compliance with applicable global standards and regulations, including ANSI, CSA, CE, and ISO requirements. Lead design reviews, DFMEA activities, validation programs, and field-trial execution strategies. Support engineering readiness activities associated with transferring Access NPIP responsibilities to the San Antonio facility. Lead the development of U.S.-based engineering capabilities supporting prototyping, testing, localization, and production launch activities. Establish engineering processes, tools, documentation standards, and best practices for North American operations. Leadership & Team Development Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing NPIP engineering team. Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration, and technical excellence. Ensure effective communication and alignment among engineering teams located in the UK, India, and the United States. Perform additional duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Extensive experience in Aerial Work Platform (AWP) design (required). Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience , including 5+ years of leadership experience . Proven track record leading new product development and/or NPIP programs from concept through launch. Strong stakeholder management, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills. Experience with: Design for Manufacturing (DFM) Design for Assembly (DFA) Working knowledge of global AWP regulations, certification requirements, and compliance processes. Ability and willingness to travel internationally between the UK, India, and the United States. Must successfully complete all required pre-employment screenings, including background checks, drug screening, and applicable employment assessments, consistent with local laws. Preferred Qualifications Experience using Siemens NX and Teamcenter . Professional Engineer (PE) certification strongly preferred. Prior experience transferring products or engineering programs to new manufacturing facilities.
