About the Position

Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 18 months of Med-Surg/Telemetry experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Ortho experience is preferred. Additional skills include stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management, and PCA pump management. Description: Seeking a MedSurg/Tele Registered Nurse. Facility is a 207 licensed bed hospital with no trauma designation. It is not a teaching hospital but is designated as a chest pain and stroke center. Travelers must have a permanent address at least 50 miles outside the home unit. Patient types predominantly include CHF, COPD, chest pain workup, strokes, respiratory issues, and general medical overflow. Experience with surgical patients, including total joint replacements and spinal surgeries, is necessary. Patients may also present with a variety of medical telemetry diagnoses such as respiratory illnesses, diabetic ulcers, and altered mental status. Nurse-to-patient ratios typically range from 1:5 to 1:6, with a critical surge ratio of 1:7 to 1:8. Support within the department includes certified nursing assistants, charge nurses, phlebotomy services, and respiratory therapy. Traveling nurses may be required to float to various departments as needs arise, based on scope of practice. The scheduling includes a weekend rotation every other week with 75% holiday work expected. RTO requests can be approved up to 6 days off, excluding holidays. Dress code requires the wearing of navy scrubs.
