Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Progressive Care / Step-Down – Virginia

Start Date: October 2026

Location: Central Virginia

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Night shift, 36 or 48 hours per week available. 3:1 patient ratio. Every other weekend and every other holiday required. Block scheduling cannot be accommodated. Up to 40 hours of pre-approved time off available per 13-week contract.

Highlights:

• Progressive care environment serving surgical and trauma patient populations including orthopedic trauma, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, and post-operative patients
• Epic charting system utilized throughout facility
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and more
• 12-bed unit with manageable 3:1 nurse-to-patient ratio across all shifts
• 24 hours of orientation provided with facility-specific modules completed during onboarding
• Trauma Level I or II experience preferred; minimum 1 year of acute care nursing experience required

Requirements:

• Active Virginia RN license or pending (must be in hand by Wednesday prior to start date)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience
• Experience with 3:1 patient ratios in progressive care or step-down settings
• Proficiency in telemetry monitoring, cardiac drip management, vasoactive medication administration, central line care, arterial line management, chest tube management, wound care, tracheostomy care, and other advanced nursing skills
• Ability to float within scope of practice as needed per facility policy
• Flu vaccination required (no exemptions); COVID-19 vaccination not required
• BSN preferred
