Job Description and Duties

Patton State Hospital, Human Resources Department, is accepting applications for at least one (1) Limited Term, Full-Time Office Technician (Typing) position for the Medical Services Department in the Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) clinic under the direct supervision of the Medical Services Administrator. This limited-term position may be extended up to 24 months and has the possibility of becoming permanent.

The incumbent in the Office Technician (Typing) position will provide administrative and clerical support to the ECT clinic. The incumbent will work closely with Physicians, Registered Nurses, Treatment Teams, Anesthesiology, Hospital Police, Transportation, and other hospital departments to support the timely coordination of ECT services.

The Office Technician performs a variety of duties involving document processing, data entry, records maintenance, appointment and meeting coordination, correspondence, and general office support. The position requires excellent organization, attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a confidential healthcare environment.

Scope of Responsibility

The Office Technician (Typing) provides administrative support and does not perform clinical assessments, interpret medical information, determine medical clearance, provide clinical advice, or make treatment decisions. All clinical reviews and decisions remain the responsibility of licensed healthcare professionals.

Working Conditions

Patton is a forensic psychiatric hospital and was established in 1890 and opened in 1893. DSH-Patton provides treatment to forensically and civilly committed patients within a secure treatment area. The hospital does not accept voluntary admissions.
