Contract | Night Shifts | Shifts run 0630–1900 and 1830–0700 | Travelers will be scheduled; limited block scheduling may be approved | Every other weekend minimum required; additional weekend shifts may be required based on unit needs and census | 2–3 holidays required between Thanksgiving and New Year's

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 25-bed Med Surg Neuro unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–6, managing a diverse patient population including stroke, stable neurological deficits, post-neurosurgery, joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbation, sepsis, GI bleeds, pneumonia, and other Med Surg overflow patients
• Titrate drips including Heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine; manage PCA pumps
• Maintain telemetry awareness; telemetry technicians will interpret strips, but RNs are expected to have foundational tele knowledge
• Conduct hourly rounding with a strong focus on patient responsiveness and satisfaction
• Manage high patient throughput including multiple admissions and discharges per shift; float to other medical surgical areas or units with Med Surg patients as needed
• Pass a unit-specific open-book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90% — failure to meet this threshold may result to termination of contract

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license with no license or background issues
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Valid driver's license required at time of submittal (used to verify radius compliance)
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Must not currently hold full-time, part-time, or PRN employment with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity Health
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; compliance is required as a condition of the contract

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel nursing experience preferred; strong candidates without travel experience will be considered
• Experience with Med Surg Neuro or Telemetry patient populations
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, including Spanish, Karen, and Burmese-speaking populations
• Demonstrated ability to manage high patient throughput, maintain strong attendance, and function as a collaborative team member
