Position Summary Administrative Support Assistant II provides administrative operations and front desk support for the College of Arts and Letters Student Success Center and Assistant Dean’s Office. Serving as a first point of contact for students, faculty, and external partners, this role interacts with a wide variety of campus entities and provides support to departmental leadership in a fast-paced academic environment. Key Responsibilities Annual Events & Special Projects: Provide administrative and logistical support for SDSU events and special projects, develop and maintain event communication materials, and coordinate with campus partners and vendors to support successful event execution. Scholarship Administrative Support: Maintain tracking systems and records, facilitate communications among academic departments and Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships, and assist with communications and documentation associated with scholarship awarding processes. Administration & Office Operations: Coordinate front‑office scheduling, meetings, and communications; respond to front‑desk inquiries and handle office operational needs. Outreach & Communications: Support student success initiatives with development, maintenance, and dissemination of digital communications and informational materials; respond to requests for information from prospective and current students, families, and campus partners. Student Petitions and Grievances: Coordinate processing and tracking of student petitions and grievances, maintain confidential records, collaborate with campus offices to ensure timely processing and review, and remain current on relevant university policies and procedures. Budget Support: Assist with expenditure tracking, account reconciliation, process purchasing and reimbursement transactions, and maintaining accurate financial and procurement records. Data Collection & Analysis: Collect, track, maintain, and compile data related to student success initiatives participation and operational needs. Why Join Us? Position Information Full‑time (1.0 time‑base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position. Non‑exempt under FLSA and eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., may vary based on operational needs. Work on campus at SDSU in San Diego; eligible for telework after initial training period. Education and Experience Entry to this classification requires fundamental written and oral communication skills, including a sound foundation in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation; an ability to understand standard office procedures; an ability to operate standard office equipment; an ability to learn office technology systems; an ability to perform basic mathematical calculations; and typing and keyboard skills. These entry qualifications are normally obtained through completion of a high school program or its equivalent and some experience in an office environment. Key Qualifications Proficiency with word processing and standard office software on PC‑based systems, including Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of effective office practices and procedures, with the ability to interpret and carry out instructions accurately. Ability to learn new tasks quickly, work with minimal supervision, and complete assignments accurately and professionally. Ability to manage multiple priorities, work effectively under pressure, and remain productive amid frequent interruptions. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and the public, including handling sensitive interactions. Compensation And Benefits San Diego State University offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well‑being and professional growth. Compensation Initial step placement not expected to exceed Step3 ($3,709). CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,565 − $5,092 per month (Step1 – Step20). Future increases, including step advancements, are subject to contract negotiations. Salary step placement for internal applicants follows the CSUEU Collective Bargaining Agreement.
