Make a meaningful impact by supporting high school students with diverse learning needs in a specialized classroom environment. This contract opportunity provides you with the chance to foster growth and resilience among students facing Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD) or severe behavioral challenges. From now through June 2027, you’ll work side-by-side with dedicated professionals and make a difference in the lives of young people as they strive for success.
What You Bring:
- Valid Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Special Education license for secondary grade levels
- Ability to demonstrate or achieve proficiency in Rhode Island Structured Literacy requirements (Right to Read Act) within one year of hire
- Experience or strong interest in working with high school students who have EBD or significant behavioral needs, ideally in self-contained or sub-separate classroom settings
- Proven classroom management skills, compassion, and adaptability
- Team-oriented mindset and commitment to collaborative student support
Key Responsibilities:
- Guide and teach high school students in a self-contained setting, delivering instruction tailored to students with EBD and challenging behaviors
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in alignment with district and state standards
- Maintain daily communication with families, support staff, and multidisciplinary teams
- Foster a safe, supportive classroom climate that empowers students to learn and grow
- Monitor progress and adapt interventions, ensuring each student’s academic and social-emotional goals are addressed

Compensation for this position ranges from $26.93 to $46.93. Eligible candidates may also receive healthcare benefits, housing, and meals/incidentals. Full details of our healthcare benefits plan can be found here. This posting is open for 60 days after the posting date.
