Embark on a fulfilling contract opportunity delivering high-impact support to elementary learners in a special education setting. This position spans the 2026-2027 school year, with immediate start available through June 18, 2027. You’ll work at a vibrant campus in Providence, serving elementary students through either a Resource/Inclusion approach—supporting those with mild-to-moderate disabilities integrated in the general curriculum—or within a Self-Contained classroom environment, depending on specific site needs.
What you bring:
- Current Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Special Education teaching license in Early Childhood, Elementary, or Secondary.
- Compliance with the Right to Read Act—either already holding Structured Literacy proficiency or a willingness to obtain certification within your first year.
- Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs).
- Experience in adapting instructional methods to support diverse learning needs.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to partner with general education staff, families, and service providers.
- A compassionate, student-centered mindset with the ability to respond flexibly to changing classroom dynamics.
What you’ll do:
- Plan and deliver individualized, evidence-based instruction aligned with students’ IEPs.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to ensure successful inclusion and targeted interventions.
- Develop progress monitoring systems and report on student achievement.
- Foster a welcoming, supportive, and structured classroom environment.
- Maintain accurate records and comply with all special education regulations.
