Step into an impactful contract role supporting elementary learners as a dedicated Special Education Teacher. Starting as soon as possible and continuing through June 2027, this long-term assignment offers the opportunity to positively influence students’ educational journeys in a collaborative school environment.
You’ll play a crucial role within either a Resource/Inclusion setting, where you will help students with mild-to-moderate disabilities access the general curriculum, or in a Self-Contained classroom providing targeted support. The weekly schedule spans 35 hours, allowing you to form meaningful connections with students and colleagues alike.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Current Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Special Education license for the appropriate grade band (Early Childhood, Elementary, or Secondary)
- Compliant with Rhode Island’s Right to Read Act (or ability to complete Structured Literacy proficiency within one year of hire)
- Strong communication, collaboration, and advocacy skills for students with disabilities
- Experience adapting curriculum and instructional strategies for diverse learners preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote positive student growth and inclusivity in either a Resource/Inclusion or Self-Contained setting
- Design and implement accommodations according to IEPs, ensuring each student receives appropriate support
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers, related service providers, and families
- Maintain accurate documentation, monitor progress, and participate in IEP meetings
- Foster a welcoming, safe environment where all students can thrive
