Embark on a rewarding contract position supporting elementary students as a Special Education teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This opportunity offers the chance to make a meaningful difference in a collaborative educational environment, located conveniently within the Providence area. You'll work hands-on with students in either a resource/inclusion capacity—helping those with mild-to-moderate disabilities stay on track with the general curriculum—or within a self-contained classroom, depending on current district needs.
What Makes You a Great Fit:
- Holds an active Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Special Education license appropriate for your target teaching band (Early Childhood, Elementary, or Secondary)
- Certified in—or willing and able to complete within one year of hire—Rhode Island Structured Literacy proficiency in compliance with the Right to Read Act
- Demonstrates a passion for supporting diverse learners and fostering academic and personal growth
- Brings strong collaboration and communication skills to partner effectively with teachers, support staff, and families
What You'll Do Each Week:
- Provide individualized and small-group instruction tailored to IEP goals and student strengths
- Develop, implement, and track individualized education plans in collaboration with a student-centered team
- Foster an inclusive, safe, and encouraging classroom atmosphere
- Actively collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and families to maximize student success
- Maintain accurate records, progress notes, and compliance with district and state guidelines
This contract offers a schedule of 35 hours per week, with the school year running through June 18, 2027. You'll play a key role in shaping students' foundational learning experiences and contribute to an inclusive school community.
