Vice President of Operations

The Vice President of Operations is a key member of the executive leadership team responsible for the financial integrity, operational effectiveness, administrative infrastructure, and organizational health of Easterseals Southeast Wisconsin. This role provides strategic and hands-on leadership of Finance/Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology, Facilities, and Risk/Compliance functions. Working in partnership with the President and fellow Vice Presidents, the VP of Operations translates organizational strategy into sustainable financial and operational systems, strengthens organizational performance, and ensures the infrastructure necessary to advance the agency's mission and long-term goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES (FUNCTIONS) include the following:

Executive Leadership & Organizational Strategy

• Serve as a member of the executive leadership team, partnering with the President and fellow Vice Presidents in organizational strategy, annual planning, budgeting, and major organizational decisions.
• Translate strategic priorities into sustainable financial, operational, workforce, technology, and infrastructure plans.
• Provide enterprise-wide analysis and recommendations to support sound executive and Board decision-making.
• Provide executive oversight of agency-wide risk, compliance, insurance, and legal matters, coordinating with external counsel and other professional partners as appropriate.
• Partner across Programs and Development to evaluate organizational investments, growth opportunities, financial sustainability, operational capacity, and risk.

Financial Management & Accounting

• Serve as the agency's senior financial leader, providing executive oversight of accounting and financial operations.
• Oversee and as needed, directly support day-to-day financial operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, cash management, and monthly and year-end close, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Lead the development, monitoring, and management of annual operating and capital budgets, financial forecasting, cash flow planning, variance analysis, and long-range financial planning in partnership with the President and fellow Vice Presidents.
• Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision-making, program sustainability, organizational investments, and effective management of financial resources.
• Design, implement, and maintain effective internal financial controls and ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), nonprofit fund accounting standards, and government and grant financial reporting requirements.
• Lead and evaluate the agency's accounting and finance structure, including the effective utilization and oversight of internal staff and external accounting, audit, and financial partners.
• Prepare and present financial reports, forecasts, and analysis to the President, Board Finance Committee, and Board of Directors.

Human Resources

• Provide executive oversight of the Human Resources function, supporting and holding the Director of Human Resources accountable for effective execution of HR strategy, operations, and compliance.
• Partner with the Director of Human Resources and President on workforce planning, organizational structure, compensation strategy, succession planning, leadership development, and organizational culture.
• Ensure HR strategies, systems, and practices support organizational priorities, employee engagement and retention, regulatory compliance, and effective risk management.

Building & Facilities Operations

• Provide executive oversight of agency facilities and real estate, supporting and holding the Facilities Manager accountable for safe, effective, and cost-efficient building operations.
• Oversee facilities strategy, capital planning, major building projects, leases, and significant vendor/service agreements.
• Ensure appropriate systems are in place for facility maintenance, safety, licensing, permits, and regulatory compliance.

Information Technology

• Provide executive oversight of the agency's technology infrastructure, systems, vendors, cybersecurity, data protection, and technology investments.
• Ensure technology strategy supports organizational operations, efficiency, privacy, HIPAA compliance, security, and long-term organizational needs.

Supervision

• Supervises assigned department personnel. This includes the following responsibilities, but not limited to: hiring, evaluating, training, scheduling, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and the completion of all work performed by direct reports.
• Meets with assigned staff at least monthly to identify and resolve problems; manage projects, and review work processes and procedures.

Additional Duties

• Participates in management team activities and agency events including fundraisers as required.
• Performs other duties (or functions) as assigned .

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required; CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or comparable advanced financial credential preferred.
• Seven (7) or more years of financial/accounting management experience required; nonprofit or human services account experience preferred.
• A minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience required.
• Experience creating, managing, and maintaining budgets in excess of $5 million preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit fund accounting, and financial reporting for grant and government funded programs.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and communicate complex financial information to non-financial audiences, including executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
• Demonstrated knowledge of human resources practices, employment laws, talent management, compensation, benefits, and organizational development preferred.
• Experience overseeing information technology strategy, systems implementation, cybersecurity, and vendor management preferred.
• Knowledge of business operations, process improvement methodologies, risk management, compliance, and organizational governance preferred.
• A Criminal Background Check must meet the requirements of the State of WI licensure for day programming.
• A Credit Check is required for this position.
