Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM; 36 or 48-hour contracts available; every other weekend required; float as needed

Highlights:

• Contract lengths from 13 to 26 weeks available
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6 on a 41-bed medical-surgical/telemetry unit
• Epic charting system with Pyxis medication management and SBAR communication protocols
• 24-hour comprehensive orientation with hospital-wide training during the first week
• Interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and more
• First-time travelers accepted with appropriate experience

Requirements:

• Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of medical-surgical and telemetry nursing experience
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Required flu vaccination (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Proficiency in blood product administration, heparin and insulin protocols, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, isolation precautions, non-invasive airway management, PCA pumps, peripheral line management, wound care/wound vac, and IV heparin drips
• Charge experience strongly preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred

Schedule & Commitment Details:

• Float requirements apply as needed within the facility
• Must be available to work 2 of 3 major holidays during contract period
• Pre-approved time off limited (up to 7 days; no RTO during first week or holidays)
• Daily availability required during orientation week for hospital classes
• Contract staff may be assigned to Storm/Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or disasters
• Unit consolidation may occur mid-contract based on facility needs

Unit Details:

• Adult and geriatric patient population with diverse medical-surgical diagnoses
• Designated isolation area for COVID patients following appropriate PPE protocols
• Multi-level care environment; stepdown patients cared for by specialized stepdown staff
• Daily census of approximately 41 patients
• Navy scrubs required
