We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented attorney to join our Grand Rapids office, focusing on elder law and estate planning matters.

Job Responsibilities:

• Draft and prepare wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advanced directives, and other estate planning documents.
• Counsel clients on elder law matters, including Medicaid planning, long-term care planning, guardianships, and conservatorships.
• Handle probate court filings and procedures, including estate and trust administration matters.
• Identify and address basic tax implications related to estate planning.
• Participate in firm training, mentoring, and continuing legal education programs.
• Shadow and collaborate with firm attorneys across practice areas during the onboarding period.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school is required.
• Active Michigan bar license required.
• 3-5 years of experience preferred.
• A demonstrated interest in elder law or estate planning are encouraged to apply.
• Knowledge of wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advanced directives, and probate court procedures.
• Awareness of tax implications in estate planning (basic level expected).
• Ability to explain complex legal concepts in plain language to clients.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing.
• Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage deadlines.
• Willingness to seek feedback, demonstrate initiative, and develop professionally.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating with attorneys and staff across multiple offices.

Compensation:

Based on experience.

In person in our Grand Rapids office; remote/hybrid may be an option.
