Work Environment

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive health assessments for students presenting with acute and chronic conditions, ensuring that all diagnoses are accurate and timely.
• Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with school physicians and multidisciplinary teams, tailoring approaches to each student's unique needs.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as blood work and imaging, ensuring appropriate follow-up care and interventions based on results.
• Prescribe necessary medications and therapies while educating students and their families on the importance of medication adherence and management of chronic conditions.
• Engage in health education initiatives, conducting workshops and information sessions for students, teachers, and parents to promote wellness and prevent illness.
• Maintain meticulous electronic medical records, documenting all patient interactions to ensure continuity of care and compliance with state regulations.
• Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and contribute to the development of school health policies, striving for continuous improvement in health services provided.
• Stay abreast of the latest healthcare advancements and regulations that affect school health initiatives, implementing new practices as appropriate to enhance care delivery.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The Nurse Practitioner will primarily work with a diverse population of students ranging from elementary through high school. This role requires a deep understanding of child and adolescent health issues, including developmental disorders, chronic illnesses, and acute injuries. You will act as a trusted healthcare provider, ensuring that students feel safe, supported, and understood in all health matters.

Qualifications

• Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Nevada.
• An active state nursing license.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Master’s preferred) from an accredited institution.
• A minimum of 4 years of clinical experience, with a preference for experience in a pediatric or school health setting.
