Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with general surgeons to deliver comprehensive care in surgical settings, performing daily rounds and managing patient care protocols.
• Conduct thorough pre-operative patient evaluations, assessing health conditions, and determining individualized treatment plans.
• Assist in the operating room during surgical procedures, including first assistance in laparoscopic and robotic surgery when required.
• Facilitate hospital admissions and discharges, ensuring adherence to all institutional policies and state laws concerning clinical practice.
• Provide pre/post-operative education and instructions to patients and their families, fostering an understanding of care procedures and recovery.
• Utilize advanced analytical skills to interpret patient data, contributing to the development and implementation of care strategies.
• Maintain a high standard of communication with team members, consistently prioritizing patient confidentiality and sensitivity in all interactions.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role involves working with a diverse patient population, including individuals of all ages requiring general surgery. The PA will have the opportunity to manage a variety of surgical cases, enhancing their clinical acumen and making significant contributions to patients' recovery journeys.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program.
• Current board certification as a Physician Assistant.
• Valid state licensure as a Physician Assistant and DEA License.
• American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification must be obtained within 12 months of hire.

Preferred Experience

• A minimum of 2 years of advanced practice experience in surgery or hospital medicine.
• Experience with surgical assisting, particularly in laparoscopic and robotic procedures, is highly valued but not mandatory.
• A demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced surgical environment, collaborating effectively with surgical teams and other healthcare professionals.

Compensation and Benefits
