Director of DevelopmentHelp Build Something Meaningful in our Mountain CommunityWhat if fundraising were about more than raising money?What if it were about helping people find a place in something they care about?Evergreen Christian Outreach (EChO) is looking for a Director of Development who sees fundraising that way.For more than 35 years, EChO has walked alongside individuals and families in Evergreen and the surrounding mountain communities, helping people move from survival toward greater stability and success. Today, our work includes food access, shelter, client services, housing and utility assistance, employment support, volunteer engagement, ReSale Shop and more.We are now entering an exciting next chapter.EChO has an extraordinary history of community support. Individuals, families, businesses, congregations, foundations, volunteers, and community organizations have invested their time, resources, relationships, and generosity in EChO for decades.Our opportunity now is to build on that foundation.We are seeking a Director of Development to lead that effort, to strengthen the systems behind our development work, grow contributed revenue, and, most importantly, deepen EChO's relationships with the people and organizations who care about our community.We think of this as building a community of generosity.Generosity can mean a financial gift, but it can also mean volunteering, making an introduction, sharing expertise, advocating for our mission, opening a door, providing resources, or simply standing with EChO and the people we serve.The Director of Development will help create opportunities for all of those forms of generosity.You will provide strategic leadership for EChO's development program while also being deeply involved in the relationships that make development successful.Your work will include:Grow individual giving. Develop strategies for annual, recurring, major, planned, and transformational giving, while building genuine relationships with current and prospective supporters.Lead major-gift development. Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward significant relationships in partnership with the Executive Director and Board leadership.Build community partnerships. Develop relationships with businesses, foundations, congregations, corporations, civic organizations, and other community partners.Lead fundraising campaigns. Develop and manage annual and special campaigns in partnership with Marketing & Communications.Strengthen engagement. Create meaningful experiences that help people connect with EChO, understand our impact, and find ways to participate.Build a culture of generosity. Work with the Executive Director, Board, staff, and volunteers so that development becomes a shared organizational responsibility and not something that belongs only to the development function.Build the infrastructure. Strengthen EChO's development systems, database, stewardship practices, prospect management, reporting, and use of data.Think strategically about the future. Build a development program and team that can grow with EChO and increasingly engage people beyond the organization's existing relationships.This is a role for someone who is comfortable moving between strategy and relationships, big-picture thinking and hands-on execution.The Director of Development reports to the Executive Director and works closely with EChO's Board of Directors, leadership team, staff, volunteers, and community partners.You will also become a visible and trusted representative of EChO in the community.This is an opportunity to work alongside people who care deeply about EChO and the people we serve, and to help bring even more people into that community.We are looking for an experienced development professional who combines fundraising expertise with genuine relationship-building ability.Required qualifications:At least five years of progressively responsible fundraising/development experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector.Demonstrated success in individual giving and relationship-based fundraising.Experience developing and stewarding major gifts.Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills.Experience with a donor/constituent relationship management system and fundraising data.Ability to work effectively with executive leadership, Board members, staff, volunteers, and community partners.A high level of integrity, discretion, and respect for confidentiality.Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.Experience with planned giving, capital campaigns, transformational philanthropy, foundation and corporate fundraising, or building a development program during organizational growth is a plus.The person who succeeds at EChO will be:Relational.
