Position Overview

Our organization is at the forefront of pediatric cardiovascular care, renowned for innovative treatments that have significantly improved outcomes for individuals with both congenital and acquired heart diseases. We are currently in search of a talented and flexible Nurse Practitioner (NP) to support patients in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU), Acute Cardiac Care Unit (ACCU), and Cardiac Procedural Unit.

This distinctive position provides versatile coverage for both pediatric and adult patients throughout the Heart Center, ranging from post-cath recovery to acute inpatient management and intensive care. The NP will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional, family-centered care to patients facing complex cardiac conditions.

• Administer post-procedural care for pediatric and adult patients undergoing:
  • Diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations
  • Electrophysiology procedures
  • Cardiac surgeries and other anesthesia-required procedures
  • Oversee patient management, observation, and discharge following procedures

• Oversee critically ill cardiac patients both pre- and post-operatively in the CICU
• Engage in medical rounds, assessments, care planning, and ongoing management of acute cardiac patients
• Manage:
  • Ventilators
  • Inotropic support
  • ECMO
  • CRRT/CVVH
  • Sedation titration
  • Perform advanced procedures such as intubation and central line placement (training provided)

• Deliver inpatient care for pediatric and adult patients with:
  • Congenital heart disease
  • Arrhythmias
  • Heart failure
  • Pre- and post-heart transplant needs
• Manage cardiology patients admitted for non-cardiac medical issues
• Provide care for patients recovering from cardiac surgery
• Coordinate care for both acute and chronic medical conditions
• Facilitate complex discharge planning and transitions of care
• Collaborate with consulting services and the multidisciplinary team to enhance patient outcomes

• Collaborate in a family-centered care environment
• Educate and support patients, families, and staff
• Engage in quality improvement, research, and clinical program development
• Contribute to a supportive learning atmosphere through teamwork with physicians, fellows, nurses, and trainees

• Full-time position, 36 hours per week with potential for 40 hours
• Up to 50% rotation between day and night shifts
• Every third weekend
• Occasional holidays, including major holidays

• Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution

• Preferred: At least 1 year of NP experience
• New graduate NPs may be considered with 2+ years of inpatient RN experience, ideally in:
  • Pediatrics
  • Cardiac care
  • ICU
  • Emergency Department

• Current NP license in Massachusetts
• Certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)

This position includes a competitive sign-on bonus ranging from $5,000 to $20,000, depending on experience.
