Senior Accountant

Sr. Accountant

Manage full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of companies, including both for-profit and non-profit entities.

Process accounts payable, including reviewing, coding, and entering vendor invoices and preparing payments.

Handle accounts receivable activities, including billing, recording customer payments, and monitoring outstanding balances.

Prepare and post journal entries as needed, including recurring, adjusting, and correcting entries.

Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules, ensuring accurate capitalization and depreciation in accordance with accounting policies.

Perform bank statement reconciliations to ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and discrepancies are resolved promptly.

Complete general ledger account reconciliations, including balance sheet and key income statement accounts, to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Lead or support month-end close activities, including accruals, reconciliations, and preparation of supporting schedules.

Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timeliness.

Apply a strong understanding of GAAP and accounting procedures to maintain compliance and improve accounting processes.

Utilize ERP and accounting software, including systems such as MRI Commercial Real Estate and QuickBooks Online, to record and manage financial data.

Use advanced Excel functions, including VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables, to analyze data, prepare reports, and support financial reporting.

Collaborate with team members and leadership in a high-confidentiality environment, maintaining discretion around sensitive financial and executive information.

Support continuous improvement of accounting processes and controls within a small, collaborative accounting team.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.

5+ years of general ledger accounting experience.

Strong experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.

Proficiency in preparing and posting journal entries, including accruals and adjustments.

Demonstrated experience in bank statement reconciliation and general ledger account reconciliation.

Proven ability to perform month-end close activities and support financial reporting.

Advanced understanding of GAAP and standard accounting procedures.

Experience preparing and interpreting financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

Proficiency with ERP or accounting software, with the ability to learn and adapt to new systems.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables.

Experience working with multiple-entity companies.

Experience working with both non-profit and for-profit organizations.

Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.

Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, MN.

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $53.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
