The Brook Physician Assistant Clinic is seeking a dedicated Surgical Physician Assistant to join our dynamic team in Kingston, New York. In this full-time, onsite role at our state-of-the-art Surgical Center, you will play a pivotal part in assessing, diagnosing, planning, and implementing comprehensive medical care for our patients in collaboration with a supervising physician. You will operate fully within your licensure, taking responsibility for the delivery and evaluation of patient care while providing vital educational support to patients and their families.

Work Environment

As a Surgical Physician Assistant, you will regularly engage with physicians, nurses, surgical staff, and other specialists in a multidisciplinary setting. The role requires you to be adaptable and proactive, managing patient cases both in surgical and postoperative settings while maintaining the highest standards of care. Our operational hours are Monday to Friday with shifts primarily starting at 5:00 PM, allowing our team to manage patient care efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough physical examinations and meticulously review patient medical histories to inform diagnostic processes.
• Order, analyze, and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory work and radiological examinations, to aid in accurate diagnosis.
• Diagnose and manage a variety of health conditions and illnesses, drawing upon your expertise in family medicine.
• Develop tailored treatment plans addressing both chronic and infectious diseases while ensuring adherence to established care protocols.
• Prescribe and monitor medications, adjusting treatment plans according to patient responses and changing health needs.
• Maintain precise and organized patient records, schedules, and documentation to ensure seamless care coordination.
• Educate patients and their families on medical conditions, preventive measures, and health-promoting practices, fostering a collaborative care environment.
• Ensure continuity of care by conducting daily rounds and participating in case discussions as part of the multidisciplinary team.
• Stay informed on recent developments in primary care and surgical practices through a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your role will primarily focus on a diverse patient population, ranging from those seeking elective surgical procedures to patients with chronic medical conditions requiring ongoing management. You will be addressing health needs across various demographics and levels of care, ensuring you provide compassionate and effective medical interventions.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Physician Assistant studies from an accredited institution.
• Current certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• Valid state licensure as a Physician Assistant.
• Strong foundational knowledge of family medicine and a commitment to continuous professional development.

Preferred Experience

• A minimum of three years of experience as a Physician Assistant in a surgical or family health clinic setting.
• Demonstrated clinical proficiency in primary care with a solid grasp of healthcare regulations and standards.
• Experience in managing diverse patient needs and working collaboratively within a surgical team.
• A DEA number for prescribing medications.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation for this position ranges from USD 140,000 to 160,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
