Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Oncology/Telemetry unit position requiring current Epic charting experience and a minimum of 2 years of recent acute care experience in the specialty.

Details

• Work on a Med/Surg Oncology/Telemetry unit within a cancer hospital and research center setting
• Care for patients with soft tissue malignancies receiving diagnostic services, chemotherapy, and symptom management
• Patients require continuous cardiac monitoring related to chemotherapy administration and management of comorbidities
• Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• 12-hour rotating day/night shifts (7:00pm-7:30am), scheduled in 4-week increments based on staffing needs
• Uses B450 GE telemetry monitors, bladder scanner, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds
• Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity level
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active RN license (Ohio or Compact) required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, with current acute care experience in the specialty within the last 12 months
• Epic EMR experience required
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience accessing and managing ports required
• Experience with arterial line management, central line care, and PICC line management required
• Skilled in blood product administration and IV starts
• Experience assisting with chest tube insertion/removal required
• Experience with high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) and interpretation of ABGs required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Skills in chemotherapy administration, BiPAP/CPAP management, tracheostomy care, PCA medication management, and insulin drip titration preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for oncology patients on a med/surg telemetry unit, including chemotherapy administration and symptom management
• Willingness to learn and grow nursing practice is valued; previous travel experience is preferred but not required, and first-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Ohio fingerprinting process must be completed urgently upon signing contract; candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to a fingerprinting location, while those farther away will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role; Charge RN acceptable for second reference; coworker references not accepted
• Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility
• Current employees of the health system are ineligible for travel positions at this facility
• RTO must be submitted with application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
