USA Senior Air Operations Specialist (JFK)

■ About the Role

The USA Senior Air Operations Specialist (JFK) is responsible for managing and coordinating end-to-end air freight operations, including both import and export shipments. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient movement of cargo by coordinating with airlines, customers, customs brokers, overseas partners, and internal teams. The ideal candidate possesses extensive air freight forwarding experience, a deep understanding of international logistics operations, and the ability to independently manage complex and time-sensitive shipments in a fast-paced environment.

■ Responsibilities

• Coordinate full-cycle air freight shipments, including both import and export operations.
• Arrange bookings with airlines, co-loaders, and transportation service providers.
• Prepare, review, and process air freight documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, air waybills, and other shipping-related documents.
• Track and trace shipments to ensure timely movement and proactively resolve delays, exceptions, or operational issues.
• Communicate effectively with customers, airlines, customs brokers, overseas partners, and internal departments to ensure smooth shipment execution.
• Coordinate customs clearance, cargo release, pickup, and final delivery activities as required.
• Monitor shipment milestones and maintain accurate shipment records within the company system.
• Support billing, freight audit, cost verification, and invoicing activities related to air freight shipments.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures, customer requirements, TSA/IAC requirements, and applicable transportation and trade regulations.
• Provide timely shipment updates and maintain a high level of customer service throughout the shipment lifecycle.
• Identify operational challenges and recommend solutions to improve efficiency and service performance.
• Support process improvement initiatives and assist with training and mentoring junior team members when needed.
• Collaborate closely with Operations, Sales, Pricing, and Customer Service teams to support business objectives and customer requirements.

■ Required Skills

• 7+ years of experience in air freight operations, freight forwarding, or international logistics.
• Strong knowledge of air import and export operations, transportation processes, and shipping documentation.
• Experience managing complex air freight shipments and resolving operational challenges independently.
• Strong understanding of airline operations, customs clearance processes, cargo movement, and supply chain operations.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to proactively identify and resolve operational issues.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to operational accuracy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and logistics-related systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
