This is not a remote position, requires employee to come into the office every day.
Job Responsibilities
- Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
- Process payroll for all employees on a timely basis, ensuring accuracy in wages, bonuses, overtime, and deductions for multiple entities
- Maintain and update employee payroll records, tax exemptions, and wage changes
- Update and comply with federal, state, and local payroll laws and benefit regulations
- Assist employees with payroll-related inquiries and resolve issues or discrepancies in a professional manner
- Reconciliation of benefits deductions and ensure proper recording in payroll systems
- Prepare reports on employee compensation for management
- Prepares and submits bi-weekly retirement/401k reports
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure seamless payroll integration
- Evaluate and recommend efficiencies with payroll system provider
- Year-end tasks, including verification and distribution of Form W2’s and gathering of owner fringe benefit information for payroll reporting
- Preparation of census information for 3rd party profit sharing calculations
- Assist with gathering information for 401k audit and workers comp audit
- Additional tasks in Accounting and Human Resources, as directed
Job Qualifications
- Degree in accounting, finance, business or HR preferred
- Minimum 3 years of experience in payroll processing or similar role required
- Certification in payroll, highly desired
- Familiar with payroll software and knowledge of tax law/payroll regulation is essential
Skills
- Accuracy in the entry and proofing of data.
- Ability to comprehend and perform complex payroll work with accuracy under time constraints.
- Ability to verify documents and forms for accuracy and completeness.
- Ability to meet with employees tactfully and courteously to answer questions in person and by telephone.
- Ability to make arithmetic computations accurately; may require the ability to use spreadsheets for calculations and reports.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, vendors, employees
- Ability to organize work efficiently, set and follow effective work priorities and to meet established payroll deadlines.
