Job Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough assessments of pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients using both standardized assessments and observational methods.
- Create individualized treatment plans tailored to meet both short-term objectives and the long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing needs of your patients.
- Implement speech therapy interventions that enhance communication, language skills, fluency, voice quality, and swallowing mechanisms.
- Team up with a diverse group of healthcare professionals, including physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, and physicians, to construct unified care strategies.
- Educate patients and their families on tailored exercises to support progress in between therapy sessions.
- Participate in occasional inpatient evaluations and therapy sessions, ensuring a seamless continuum of care throughout each patient's journey.
- Keep comprehensive and timely documentation that meets the standards of local, state, and federal regulations.
- Engage in continuous professional development to stay abreast of advancements within the field.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
- Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if not ASHA-certified.
Certifications
- Valid state license to practice as a Speech Language Pathologist.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA is preferred.
- Candidates must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of employment.
