It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence.Description of WorkThe primary responsibility of the Licensed Practical Nurse is performing routine duties of a practical nurse in the care and treatment of individuals, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Nurse Supervisor. Duties will include: participating in nursing assessments, Provide personal care, take routine vital signs, collect specimens, change dressing, deliver breathing treatments, catheter and colostomy care, administer routine medications, stock supplies, and administer routine medications and assist the Registered Nurse and Physician as needed.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management PreferencesSalary Range: $39,864.00 - $59,797.00*A Sign-on bonus of $4,000 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting, contingent on the 2025-2026 Budget Approval.Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:Working knowledge of nursing techniques, procedures, theory and practices, sanitation, personal hygiene, basic health and safety practices.Working knowledge of proper dosage, effects and contraindications.Skill in routine medical procedures to include basic wound care, taking vital signs, checking weights and obtaining specimens.Skill in preparing and administering medications, observation and evaluation of individuals' condition(s).Possess ability to respond to potentially life-threatening situations in a calm and orderly manner.This position is Exempt from certain provisions of The State Human Resources Act (GS 126)This position is designated as mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.We will be recruiting for multiple positions with this post.
