Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive evaluations and re-evaluations of speech, language, and swallowing abilities, assessing both prior and current functioning levels. Set appropriate goals and make discharge recommendations in line with established practice standards. Deliver direct Speech Language Pathology treatments, including educating patients and families, advancing treatment plans, and implementing suitable therapeutic interventions.

• Utilize the correct documentation forms and adhere to the documentation standards set by the PM&R department. Collaborate with physicians, patients, families, and other healthcare team members regarding patient treatment and progress, as well as with affiliated agencies. Actively engage in meetings, in-services, and rounds related to patient care and departmental matters.

• Oversee SLP students and rehabilitation technicians. Manage and prioritize your schedule based on patient treatment demands and other departmental duties.

• Contribute to program development as directed by the SLP Clinical Leader. Participate in a minimum of 10 contact hours of continuing education or other learning opportunities to maintain professional competency. Provide at least one annual in-service for staff and/or the community for educational purposes.

• Comply with all regulations from the Department of Health and the Joint Commission concerning the physical environment and patient care.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.

• Current D.C. license as a Speech Language Practitioner or eligibility for licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist in D.C.

• Certificate of Clinical Competency.

• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.

Compensation

This position offers a salary range of USD $89,065.00 - USD $162,801.00 per year.
