Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) located in Wausau, Wisconsin. This role involves providing critical patient care in a 16-bed Medical-Surgical ICU unit, which includes neuro-critical care and trauma management. Candidates are required to bring their Wisconsin RN license on the first day. The assignment starts on 07/20/2026 and is scheduled for 13 weeks with a 36-hour minimum workweek.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, with every other weekend and holiday rotations.
• Required Qualifications: Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and ACLS certifications. A minimum of 2 years of experience in Medical-Surgical and ICU settings, with strong neuro-critical care experience. Charting experience preferred with EPIC being the preferred electronic medical record system.
• Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred but not required). CCRN certification is preferred but not mandatory.
• Additional Information: The unit is a Level 2 trauma center with patient care involving stroke, cerebral monitoring, drains, vents, and drips. May experience high volumes of trauma cases including accidents and winter-related injuries. Candidates should be resilient, able to manage change, and capable of working independently.
• Float Requirements: Will float between Medical ICU and Neuro ICU units; possible float to other critical care and inpatient units as needed.
• On Call/Call Back Requirements: Response time within 1 hour if responding to calls; call is permitted but not required.
• Census and Hours Flexibility: The unit may be low censused in 4-hour increments; travelers can work only 4 or 8 hours if preferred.
• Experience: 0 years minimum experience required, with emphasis on two years in MedSurg and ICU settings.
• Additional notes: During flu season, vaccination is mandatory; unvaccinated travelers must wear masks at all times.
