Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ICU float pool position requiring recent ECMO experience and a minimum of 4 years of recent ICU experience.

Details

• Float pool position within the ICU, not unit-based, requiring float coverage to all TCUs, ICUs, ED, and PACU
• Cardiovascular/cardiothoracic critical care patient population including ECMO, IABP, Impella, LVAD, and CRRT patients
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Rotating 12-hour Day (7:00-19:30) and Night (19:00-7:30) shifts, with shift assignment potentially changing between 4-week schedule cycles
• Epic charting system preferred
• Floating required to other UCSF facilities and departments within a 75+ mile radius
• 25-week assignment length

Requirements

• Active CA RN license in hand required
• BSN required
• AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 4 years of recent ICU experience required
• Recent ECMO experience within the last 6 months to 1 year required
• Experience caring for ECMO patients as a bedside RN, including primary responsibility without dedicated bedside perfusion support
• CVICU/CTICU/CCU experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required, with a completed travel assignment within the past 12 months and travel nursing experience totaling 1 year or less within the past 5 years
• Academic medical center/teaching hospital experience required
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Ability to independently manage complex critical care patients
• Strong interpersonal communication skills
• 2 references from most recent employer required for consideration
• Any prior employment history with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed at time of consideration, including dates worked, units, and manager names

Additional Information

• Provide advanced critical care to complex cardiovascular and transplant ICU patients, including management of ECMO, IABP, Impella, LVAD, and CRRT devices
• Experience with VA ECMO, VV ECMO, V-PA ECMO, pulmonary artery catheters, prostacyclin therapies, and cardiothoracic/heart/lung transplant recovery strongly preferred
• Simultaneous management of multiple mechanical circulatory support devices highly desirable
• Candidates assessed on ability to function within the ICU care model, with ECMO experience considered one component of a broader critical care competency profile
• All RTO must be disclosed and approved by the manager at time of offer, with no additional requests accepted mid-contract and RTO not permitted within the first two weeks of the assignment
• Travel pairs are allowed but generally will not be placed on the same unit
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate as travelers
