Pay Rate: $20.00 Per Hour

Schedule: M-F 8AM-5PM

Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Specialist to join our team. This position plays a key role in accounts receivable, revenue processing, banking, and general ledger accounting functions while supporting the collection and resolution of delinquent accounts.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment , has strong attention to detail, and can effectively communicate with both internal and external customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the collection of receivables, including returned payments, fuel tax and audit assessments, civil penalties, and miscellaneous receivables.
• Research and locate delinquent customers using skip tracing and other available tools.
• Apply applicable State statutes, rules, and ADOT policies when managing accounts and collection activities.
• Communicate professionally with internal and external customers by telephone, email, and written correspondence.
• Process credit card and check transactions and complete daily internal deposits.
• Process bank levies, bond claims, and agency companion transfers.
• Refer qualifying delinquent debt to the Arizona Attorney General’s Office .
• Process the removal of uncollectible or uncollected debt in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.
• Participate in testing and implementation activities related to internal system enhancements.
• Validate, record, reconcile, and report revenue accurately and timely.
• Perform banking and general ledger accounting functions, including account analysis and reconciliations.
• Research discrepancies and resolve accounting and financial record issues.
• Develop, document, and maintain desk procedures to ensure consistency and compliance.
• Support process improvements and other accounting-related projects as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Experience in accounting, accounts receivable, collections, banking, or a related financial field.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling financial transactions and records.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, rules, and applicable statutes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn financial and internal business systems.
