Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1 to 2 years Telemetry Experience Required License: Active state nursing license Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Cardiac Monitoring and Emergency response - Management of dysrhythmias - Telemetry monitoring - Use of Rapid Response Teams - IV therapy and phlebotomy skills - Accessing and managing ports - Blood product administration - Feeding tube care and management - Continuous Bladder Irrigation Description: The ideal candidate will work in a fast-paced Intermediate Unit. This unit takes intermediate medical patients and surgery overflow. Responsibilities include managing patients recovering from surgeries such as TURPs, lap cholecystectomy, and more. The nurse will provide diabetic teaching and wound care. Ratios for patient care will generally be 1:5, with the potential to flex to 1:6 on rare occasions. Charge RN assignments may be required as needed. The position requires 8 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule period. The candidate will need to demonstrate proficiency in cardiac monitoring. Nursing skills in dysrhythmia interpretation and management are essential. The nurse must be familiar with IV insulin protocols and medication titration. Experience with respiratory care, including tracheostomy management, is preferred. Isolation precautions, wound care, and use of wound vacs are necessary skills. Floating between departments may be required based on facility needs. The ability to work with diverse patient age groups, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics, is essential. The unit is supported by interdisciplinary teams, including physical therapy and pharmacy. Candidates must be prepared for a demanding yet rewarding work environment. All documentation must be completed by set deadlines prior to starting the position.
