Pharmacy Technician

Description:

Positions in this banded class assist pharmacists in providing technical pharmacy services by processing, preparing, and filling physician’s medication orders. Work is performed in a pharmacy and/or outpatient clinic setting. Duties performed include: screening and preparing physician’s medication orders; preparing drugs, chemicals and other pharmaceutical products; recording data on patient profiles; insurance billing and reconciliation; and maintaining inventory. Work may include providing instruction and/or supervision of others.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit:

The Mission of the student health center is to provide curative and preventative health care services to the students of North Carolina A&T State University. We provide services according to recommended standards, based upon current medical and health related information in order to accommodate the unique needs of each individual.

Our goal is to be central support to N.C. A&T State University’s educational programs. We seek to prevent/reduce time lost from the course of study and strive to improve the quality of life for the A&T community and the public at large. Our overall goal of the student health center is to maintain a healthy environment in which students, faculty, and staff are able to achieve their educational goals. A strong commitment is made to maintain professional excellence in addressing the health problems that are unique to this population, in an effort to:

• Minimize interference in academic achievement cause of health concerns;

• Educate students toward the achievement of healthy lifestyles as a foundation for pursuing personal and professional goals; and

• Contribute to the maintenance of a safe and healthy atmosphere, in which students, faculty, and staff live and work.

Requirements:

Completion of an accredited nine-month Pharmacy Technician program; or high school diploma or equivalency and one year of pharmacy-related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Some positions may require certification as a Pharmacy Technician.

Preferred:

Experience working under the supervision of a pharmacist or manager.
